The chamber’s president and CEO, Ramiro Cavazos, and the its vice president of government and international relations, LeRoy Cavazos-Reyna, joined Rio Grande Guardian editor Steve Taylor for the conversation.
Cavazos stressed the importance of working with elected leaders and bridging the gaps in systemic power structures for Hispanics and women. He also discussed the recent Supreme Court Decision on DACA, and the importance of working with Congress to find a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers.
Cavazos-Reyna focused on the international affairs work of USHCC and the importance of border policy and the role of the Texas Border Coalition.
During the conversation, Cavazos said he was wary for pushing for Mexican visa holders to be allowed to visit the border region but not to pass through inland checkpoints.
