Humberto Martínez elected president of INDEX Nacional

MONTERREY, Nuevo León - Humberto Martínez Cantú of Reynosa was elected president of INDEX at the national level for the period 2024-2025.

INDEX is the trade association for the maquiladora industry.

Index Nacional held their annual assembly in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Martínez, a former president of INDEX Reynosa, received the unanimous vote of the members of the organization.

In his acceptance remarks, Martínez thanked INDEX members for their support and called on them to continue working in a spirit of unity for the benefit of the maquiladora industry and the country.

Martínez said that he will promote the competitiveness of IMMEX companies, the participation of industry in legislative and regulatory issues, both in Mexico and the United States, and the development of the workforce.

“We know that in 2024 there will be structural changes in the government, which is why, more than ever, we must be prepared and strongly united for the benefit of our important sector,” Martínez said.

Martínez is an industrial engineer by profession; He has more than 53 years of experience in the manufacturing industry and was president of INDEX Reynosa during the period 2020-2022.

Currently Martínez is secretary general and national coordinator of committees of the National Council of INDEX, as well as vice president of Cornelius Manufacturing of Mexico.

Martínez is the second person from Reynosa to preside over the National Council of the Manufacturing Industry. The first was Enrique Castro Septién in 2005.

Martínez replaces Luis Hernández, who presided over the national organization during the 2021-2023 period.
