PHARR, Texas - Dr. Daniel P. King is executive director of Region One Education Service Center. He was previously a nationally award-winning superintendent at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD.
King returned to Pharr on May 13, 2025, to give the keynote address at the Pharr EDC Foundation 2025 Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The event was held at Regency Hall in Pharr.
Established in 2021, the Pharr EDC Foundation is dedicated to expanding educational and workforce opportunities for students in Pharr.
Fifty students from six local schools were recognized. They will each receive a $2,000 scholarship to assist with their higher education aspirations.
In his remarks, Dr. King told the story of his schooldays. He said he was shy and did not know what he wanted to do for a career. But, he loved school life. He sought to inspire the students and parents in the audience.
