BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Pat Hobbs, executive director of Workforce Solutions Cameron, is the latest VIP to feature in The Rio Grande Guardian’s Community Spotlight via Zoom series.

In an absorbing conversation that covers a lot of ground, Hobbs talks about the current high levels of unemployment in the Rio Grande Valley, caused by the impact the coronavirus has had on the economy. He discusses some of the programs that exist to help businesses rebound from the slump and how displaced workers can access unemployment funds.

By nature, Hobbs is an optimist. He predicts the nation and the Valley will get through the current crisis and mentions the major economic development projects that were in the works before the pandemic struck. He said some of those projects will resurface, along with new opportunities.
