WESLACO, TEXAS – Manuel Cruz, the new executive director of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council, has given his first video interview.

In a wide-ranging Zoom conversation, Cruz spoke about his long service at the Valley’s official council of government and why the organization is important.

Cruz also spoke about how the LRGVDC distributes COVID-19 related funds and the group’s outreach work for the 2020 Census.

The previous executive director of LRGVDC was Ron Garza. He left in February to become city manager of Edinburg. Former executive director Ken Jones returned as an interim while the group’s board of directors searched for a successor to Garza.
