MCALLEN, Texas – The head of Zoho’s McAllen office has nothing but praise for city and economic development leaders in McAllen.
Tejas Gadhia recently gave an exclusive video interview to the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service about his company. He was asked why the global software development company chose McAllen.
Gadhia said the company looks at things like safety, affordability, healthcare, education, and the cost of living. However, he said there was another component that is hard to quantify on a spreadsheet.
“The ‘X’ factor was really kind of just the city vibe, the city culture, something that you can’t really capture on a spreadsheet,” Gadhia said. “Just the personality of folks here and the kindness, the humbleness, (everyone is) down to earth.”
Gadhia acknowledged Zoho is “not the most flashy company.” He said the City of McAllen’s vibe matched that of the company. “You know, simple, put their head down, hardworking and that kind of just resonated a lot with us. Family oriented people too.”
Asked if he wanted to give a shoutout to the city and economic development leaders of McAllen, Gadhia said:
“So, the city has been amazing to work with. Like out of all the cities we talked to, some go above and beyond and you can just tell like the city is firing on all cylinders.”
