BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Shalanda H. Baker, director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Economic Impact and Diversity and the Secretarial Advisor on Equity, visited the Rio Grande Valley recently to discuss energy justice with community leaders, elected officials and students. 

Established through an Executive Order by President Biden, the Justice 40 initiative is charged with making sure 40 percent of the overall benefits of certain federal investments flow to disadvantaged communities that are marginalized, underserved and overburdened by pollution.
