MCALLEN, Texas - Samuel Zapata is an associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics stationed at the Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen.
In January, Zapata gave a presentation to RioPlex titled: “Agriculture Challenges and Opportunities.” The event was held at South Texas College's Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco.
The RGG Business Journal wanted to know about the impact of the presentation. So, we caught up with Zapata at an “Aggieland Saturday” event held at Texas A&M’s Education Center in McAllen.
“Agriculture is still very important for our region. Fifty percent of agricultural trade passes through South Texas,” Zapata said.
Zapata said he was looking forward to the arrival of a new research center Texas AgriLife is building at the Texas A&M Higher Education Center in McAllen.
