WESLACO, Texas - The Economic Development Corporation of Weslaco co-hosted an investment forum with the Río Bravo chapter of Canacintra, a national chamber of commerce.
Titled “Abre sus Puertas: Foro y Recorrido de Inversión Binacional” it was held at Weslaco’s Business Visitor and Event Center.
Organizers said the aim was to bring together Mexican industrial leaders and U.S. stakeholders to explore opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, and cross-border expansion.
In an interview with the RGG Business Journal, Steve Valdez, president of EDC Weslaco, said the meeting was the first of its type in the Mid-Valley. He said he was pleased to showcase several shovel-ready sites.
“Weslaco’s location as a central hub in Rio Grande Valley positions us as a strategic bridge for investment between Mexico and the United States,” Valdez said.
“Through this partnership with Canacintra, we are opening the door for more companies to expand, create jobs, and strengthen the manufacturing and logistics corridor for our border’s common interest.”

One of the speakers at the event was Weslaco-based immigration attorney Paola Guerrero. In her remarks, she explained the intricacies of U.S. immigration law to potential investors from Mexico. Guerrero, who works for the Jones, Galligan, Key, and Lozano Law Firm, gave an exclusive interview to the Journal.
