WESLACO, Texas - Weslaco Mayor Adrian Gonzalez was delighted Gov. Greg Abbott came to the Mid-Valley Airport on Sept. 25 to share news about the State Legislature's recent investments in Weslaco.
Twenty-six million dollars was awarded to Weslaco this past legislative session. In an interview with the Rio Grande Guardian and Ron Whitlock Reports, Mayor Gonzalez said an investment in Weslaco is an investment in the whole region. He said that the Rio Grande Valley is growing fast and Weslaco, being in the center of the region, is benefitting from this.
Mayor Gonzalez said his priority is making sure Weslaco has all the necessary infrastructure in place so it can capitalize on interest being shown by companies wishing to relocate to the Valley. He also spoke about the long-term goals for the Mid-Valley Airport.
