SULLIVAN CITY, Texas - Sullivan City Mayor Alma D. Salinas says the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Sullivan City are partnering up.
She said the two are co-hosting a Community Information Session at the new public library in Sullivan City on Tuesday, September 24, starting at 6:00 pm.
Salinas said the event will be open to the public and is designed to inform residents about USDA programs on homeownership, including home repair grants, home repair loans and home loans that can benefit the local community.
“We are thrilled to welcome the USDA to our city and provide our residents with access to these invaluable resources,” Salinas said. “This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone in our community to learn about the programs available to them. I encourage all residents to attend—this event is open to everyone.”
Rina D. Castillo, community and economic development extension agent for Prairie View A&M University, helped facilitate the event.
She said the session will highlight opportunities that can significantly improve the quality of life for residents if they take advantage of these resources.
Castillo said representatives from the USDA, local leaders, and community development agents will be present to provide detailed information, answer questions, and guide attendees through the application processes.
“I am delighted to help bring this information session to Sullivan City,”Castillo said. “Providing residents with access to programs like these can make a real difference, not only in Hidalgo County but throughout the entire state. It’s about empowering people with the knowledge and tools they need to improve their lives and strengthen their communities.”
Those interested in attending are encouraged to register for seating purposes at bit.ly/USDAsession although registration is not required to participate.
