MCALLEN, Texas - The Texas Freight Advisory Committee, which is administered by the Texas Department of Transportation, met in McAllen on December 17, 2025.
The meeting was held at the McAllen Convention Center.
One of the agenda items was titled “Roundabout and Alternative Intersection Design Update.” It was presented by Amanda Austin, who works in TxDOT’s Design Division.
Austin argued that roundabouts, which are popular in Europe, are much safer than the traditional four-way intersections that are popular in Texas.
