SOUTH TEXAS HEALTH SYSTEM BARIATRIC WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY CENTER TO HOST SPECIAL HOLIDAY GATHERING & REUNION FOR FORMER PATIENTS

STHS Heart physicians and leadership will celebrate the journey to a healthy lifestyle with festivities celebrating the accomplishments of patients who have undergone bariatric procedures

The holidays are a time to gather and celebrate the traditions of the season. But it’s also a fitting time to reflect on all we have experienced over the course of the year.

From setting New Year’s resolutions, goals and milestones at the start of the year to seeing how they have come to fruition at the end of the year, the holidays allow us to contemplate our lives for the last 365 days.

From the beginning to the end of the year, the changes may be small. In the case of deciding to undergo weight-loss surgery to lead a healthier lifestyle, one may see a drastic difference within the 12-month period.

For many patients of South Texas Health System’s Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery Center, their transformation journey has helped improve their lives for the better. Along with helping them lose excess weight and keep it off with diet modifications and exercise, weight loss surgery has allowed them to improve their health and manage chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol.

Additionally, they’ve been able to improve their self-esteem, physical function and mobility, reduce the number of medicines they need to take, and rewire the body’s metabolic programming to prevent weight regain.

To celebrate their transformation journeys, as well as the friendships made in the process through the center’s Beary Buddies support group, the STHS Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery Center will host its annual Holiday Party and Reunion on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m. Held in the South Texas Health System Heart Clinics conference room, the free event is open to former bariatric patients and their families as a way to celebrate their journey to a healthy lifestyle.

Aside from former patients, physicians with the Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery Center and STHS Heart leaders will be present to help celebrate the inspiring life transformations made possible through bariatric surgery.

The festivities will include food appropriate for patients who have undergone bariatric surgery, moving patient testimonials and special raffle prizes for attendees.

If you’d like to attend the event, simply RSVP to Amy Flores at the STHS Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery Center at (956) 664-1616 or amy.flores2@uhsrgv.com.
