MCALLEN, Texas - Joaquin Spamer, president of Commodities Integrated Logistics, has just returned from trade mission to Shenzhen, China. He says the trip was very successful.
“Our primary goal was to promote all the industrial properties in every city where we participate, such as McAllen, Pharr, Edinburg, Weslaco, Brownsville, and Harlingen, as well as our logistics business and our new industrial park, the McAllen Nearshoring Campus,” Spamer said.
“Nearshoring presents a tremendous opportunity for our region, and in order to attract new businesses to our area, we must demonstrate why it's worthwhile. We need to earn their interest because they won't come on their own.”
Founded by Spamer in 1992 the CIL Group offers integrated logistics services along the Mexico-U.S. border, including the import, export, warehousing, distribution and transportation of industrial, commercial and perishable products.
Spamer, along with representatives from the Border Trade Alliance of Mexico and the State of Nuevo León, participate in the 17th Annual China International Logistics & Supply Chain Fair. Spamer is president BTA Mexico.
Spamer said other key border leaders on the trip included Tony Liu, Carlos Garcia, Emmanuel Loo, Mitch Abundis, Hans Humphrey, and Marcela Spamer.

“With the wholehearted support of the McAllen EDC, Pharr EDC, Edinburg EDC, Mission EDC, Brownsville EDC, Weslaco EDC, the RGV Partnership, and the Mexican State of Nuevo Leon, we distributed various promotional materials providing more information about all that the RGV has to offer,” Spamer said.
“Our aim was to attract new businesses and promote each of the RGV international bridges, highlighting the benefits they offer. With the support of Victor Perez, Edward Campusano, and Arturo Gomez, we embarked on this mission.”

Spamer pointed out that McAllen was, a few years ago, the first city from the Valley to attend the China International Logistics and Supply Chain Fair.
“Through this experience, we discovered the vast world we needed to explore. That's why, this year, we decided to emphasize our beautiful RGV and all the opportunities it offers to everyone in China,” Spamer said.
“As a binational business, we are constantly seeking new ways to contribute to our community's growth, and our journey to China was a crucial step toward achieving this goal.”
Spamer added: “Our trip to China for the 17th Annual China International Logistics & Supply Chain Fair was a significant milestone in our efforts to promote the Rio Grande Valley and attract new businesses to our region. With a dedicated team and strong support from various organizations, we showcased the opportunities and benefits the RGV has to offer, particularly in the context of nearshoring. This journey underscored our commitment to community growth and collaboration on a global scale, and we look forward to further endeavors that will benefit both our region and international partners.”
