Plata: Mission has a very honest council. We don't take money from the city.

MISSION, Texas – Mission Mayor Pro Tem Rubén Plata has given more interviews about the failure of city officials to send sales tax revenues to the Mission Economic Development Corporation.

About $3.1 million was withheld, without Plata’s knowledge. The nonpayments started last April. Plata, a banker, said he only learned about it in early December. 

In an interview with Rio Grande Guardian International News Service, Plata said the City of Mission may have to borrow money in order to pay Mission EDC everything it is owed. Plata said the City of Mission has honest staff and no money has gone missing.
