News in Pictures: SpaceX launches Starship rocket from Boca Chica beach

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - Elon Musk's company SpaceX launched its Starship rocket for a second time from Boca Chica beach on Saturday.

The top part of the rocket - the ship - successfully separated from the booster, which then exploded. Contact with the ship was then lost.

SpaceX has hailed the mission as a success, considering it got further than its first attempt in April. In April the vehicle lost control and exploded four minutes after lift-off.

Starship is the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built.

Photojournalist Madison Girault was on South Padre Island for the launch. Here are some of the images she took. Girault can be reached by email via madigiraultphoto@gmail.com.
