SAN JUAN, Texas - Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller recently held a press conference at the Texas Department of Agriculture's San Juan office.
The subject was the recent outbreak of violence in Mexico that followed the killing of Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, commonly referred to by his alias "El Mencho." The Mexican Army killed the Mexican drug lord, who led the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, an organized crime group based in Jalisco.
Miller said Texas farmers that grow crops in Mexico are having to pay drug cartels in order to operate in the country.
