The first is being hosted by the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation. The event is  titled. “New Mexican Moment.” It takes place Thursday, July 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Texas Southmost College’s Performing Arts Center. Wood will speak in the Gold Hall Room, located at 90 East Taylor Ave in Brownsville.

Elsa M. Galvan, operations manager for GBIC, said Wood will speak about this topic:

Duncan Wood

”As the United States reorients its supply chains, and companies look for re-shoring near-shoring and ally-shoring opportunities, northern Mexico is on the brink of a new golden economic era. Already we are seeing massive investments taking place from the US, Chinese and other foreign companies. This is having an immediate impact on real estate, infrastructure, energy and labor markets in northern Mexico, and these effects will soon spill over to the US side of the border. What can border states and municipalities do to prepare themselves for the New Mexican Moment?”

Wood’s second speech will take place during the City of McAllen’s MXLAN festival. Wood will give the keynote speech at an International Commerce Summit at the McAllen Convention Center on Friday, July 28. The summit runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Xochitl Mora, director of communications for the City of McAllen, said Wood’s keynote address will “shed light on the current state of relations between Texas, the United States, and Mexico and highlight the potential for future growth and collaboration.”

Mora added: “The South Texas region possesses a geographical advantage that links the United States and Mexico, making it a critical hub for cross-border trade and investments. McAllen, situated at the heart of this dynamic region, plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade and investment flows between the two nations. Understanding the potential impact of this unique positioning is vital to capitalize on emerging opportunities and tackle any challenges that may arise.”
