Killam: We continually brag about Mission as the best city we have worked in

MISSION, Texas - Cliffe Killam, president and CEO of Killam Development, says Mission, Texas, is the best city his company has ever worked in.

Killam is developing a huge master-planned, mixed use, community in south Mission. The development is known as El Milagro. It is also building an industrial park near Anzalduas International Bridge, which the City of Mission co-owns.

“In Mission, our flagship project, El Milagro, is a master planned, mixed use, community. Within the City of Mission, we also are developing an industrial park near the Anzalduas International Bridge which will attract manufacturing, cold storage, and logistic companies,” Killam said.

“Ultimately, these investments will increase tax revenues, create job opportunities, and spur future growth.”

Killam made his comments in a video recording that aired during Mission Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza’s first-ever State of the City address. The event was held at Mission Event Center.

Gonzalez Garza introduced Killam’s video with these remarks:

“A major investment and huge development that is underway is Killam Development’s 3,400 acre master planned community, El Milagro. This master planned development will be a mix of residential, retail and entertainment space, ideal for the city of Mission. We had the foresight to improve the infrastructure in that area so that it would be ready for an injection of significant investment for development.”

In his video, Killam (pictured left) explained why his company chose to develop El Milagro in Mission.

“Our choice to invest in Mission was due to the business friendly environment, proactive leadership and a strategic location near the Texas-Mexico border. We've been absolutely delighted to continue to work with Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza, City Manager Randy Perez and their whole team. Working in Mission has been a truly positive experience. We continually brag about Mission as the best city we have worked in and a model of excellence, professionalism, responsiveness and proactiveness.”

With Anzalduas International Bridge currently being developed to handle fully loaded truck movements, north- and south-bound, Killam said Mission is poised for great things.

“We believe there is a once in a lifetime opportunity due to the near-shoring in Mexico and supply chain recalibration. The City of Mission is poised to take advantage of these tailwinds. And we're excited to capture and root these opportunities in Mission, Texas,” Killam said.

“Our goal is to turn economic potential into economic reality. I want to extend our gratitude to Mayor Norie, Randy, and the City of Mission administration. Killam Development is committed to working with and investing in Mission and driving positive outcomes.”

In a press release, Susie Torres, Killam’s director of marketing/leasing and sales associate, said Killam Development was “proud” to serve as title sponsor for the State of the City address. She called the event “groundbreaking.”

Torres said: “Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza delivered an inspiring speech to a captivated audience of over 700 attendees at the Mission Event Center, including prominent local, state, and federal officials, as well as business and education leaders.

“The event's theme, inspired by the movie "Field of Dreams," highlighted the city's forward-thinking approach to attract new businesses, developments, residents, and visitors. Mayor Garza discussed strengthening partnerships, infrastructure improvements, public safety enhancements, and growth preparation. She emphasized that Mission is well-prepared and actively gearing up for the ongoing exponential growth it's currently experiencing and anticipates in the future.”

Torres added that Killam’s teams from Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley were in attendance to witness the “momentous occasion.”
