Hidalgo County monitoring Federal Government Shutdown

Posted

Hidalgo County officials are closely monitoring the federal government shutdown and assessing potential impacts on federally funded programs that serve local families.

“At this time, essential services remain available,” said Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez. “We are in constant communication with our state and federal partners to make sure our residents continue to receive the assistance they need. If any changes occur, we will share updates immediately.”

If the shutdown continues, programs that may be affected include the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Hidalgo County Head Start Program, the Urban County Program, and the Community Service Agency.

At the moment, these services remain in place.

Hidalgo County will continue to share updates as more information as soon as it becomes available.
