This Thanksgiving weekend we would like to give thanks to all the subscribers who made a financial contribution during our recent donations drive.
We could not mention all of these individuals even if we wanted to do because some made donations without giving their names. And others, I am sure, would not want to be mentioned.
But, you all know who you are and we thank you. It means a lot that you believe in our publication and what we are striving to achieve. Your donations have provided a great boost as we seek to grow our team of dedicated journalists.
We had never embarked on a pledge drive before. We would not have known how to. We are, after all, a team of news reporters, not marketing professionals. But, thanks for our incredible new partners, Indiegraf, we have been able to mount such a campaign. And so, this Thanksgiving, we must also give thanks to Indiegraf.
We first met Indiegraf at this year’s International Symposium on Online Journalism (ISOJ) in Austin. We have been going to this annual conference for years to learn the latest trends and best practices in online journalism. And for the longest time we learned that e-newsletters were the way to reach our subscribers and ask them to help.
But, each year we would return to the Rio Grande Valley not knowing who to turn to, not knowing who could help us out. Thankfully, we met Erin Millar, the CEO and co-founder of Indiegraf, at this year’s ISOJ and the rest is history.
Thanks to Indiegraf we have a fantastic new website that is visually more attractive and easier to navigate. And we now have our first pledge drive behind us. We have learned a lot through the process. And so now we cannot wait for the next great project with Indiegraf.
Our mission remains the same. To provide exclusive and in-depth news and information of great import to the South Texas border region. The sorts of news stories not found in other publications or media outlets.
That we have been able to do this for the past 18 years is thanks in large part to our loyal subscribers for their unwavering support. And, we can assure you all, the best is yet to come.
We have so much to be thankful for this year.
