As this year comes to a close, I am taking a moment to reflect with deep gratitude.
Serving our community is never abstract. It shows up in classrooms, neighborhoods, small businesses, and families who deserve to be seen and supported. This year reminded me why the work matters, even when it is hard.
I am proud of what we have accomplished together. Securing $1 million in funding for the Gladys Porter Zoo to support animal care, conservation, and educational programming for our community. Fighting for stronger public education funding, and standing up for students and educators across South Texas. Showing up for local organizations, community events, and families who make our district what it is. Speaking out when it mattered, even when it wasn't easy.
None of this happens alone. I am grateful for the advocates, educators, parents, organizers, and neighbors who continue to push for a more just and thriving community. I am grateful to serve in a democracy where we can ask hard questions, demand accountability and work openly towards progress.
As we step into the new year, I do so with courage and resolve. There is so much work to ahead, and I am ready to meet it head-on. With honesty. With compassion. And with an unwavering commitment to the people of our district.
Thank you for trusting me with this responsibility. I look forward to continuing the work together in the year ahead.
