Global health expert appointed CEO of DHR Health Institute for Research and Development

EDINBURG, Texas - DHR Health  has announce the appointment of Dr. Scott Lillibridge, MD, as the new executive vice president and CEO for the DHR Health Institute for Research and Development. 

Lillibridge previously served as the associate vice president for Global Health at Texas A&M Health Science Center. In this role, he provided leadership for multi-center research, education, and community health services, particularly in South Texas. 

A 40-year veteran in medical and public health preparedness, Liilibridge is considered an expert on community resilience against health threats; health security; emergency response; and capacity and gaps in the ability of federal, state, and local governments to respond to catastrophic health events.

DHR Health CEO Dr. Manish Singh, said Lillibridge brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in global health, epidemiology, and research leadership.

“Dr. Lillibridge's appointment to the research arm of our organization underscores our commitment to driving innovation in healthcare,” Singh said.

“His extensive experience in advancing health services to communities and dedication to the field of medicine aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance healthcare access and outcomes for citizens of the Rio Grande Valley.”

Lillibridge issued this comment about his new appointment:

“My primary goal at DHR Health is to expand the multi-disciplinary clinical research capacity and bring advanced treatment options to our community. I am glad to call the Rio Grande Valley my new home and look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of those I have the privilege to serve.”

Lillibriidge has also served as chief scientist for Texas A&M’s pandemic vaccine development enterprise and professor of epidemiology at the Texas A&M University School of Public Health.

Lillibridge was also founding director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Program and worked as special assistant to the Secretary for National Security and Emergency Management within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In this capacity, Lillibridge testified before Congress soon after 9/11 about government preparedness for terrorist attacks.

Lillibridge has also served as medical director for the U.S. Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance.

He received his B.S. in Environmental Health from East Tennessee State University, a Medical Doctorate from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, completed specialty training in Family Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and undertook an Epidemiology Fellowship with the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS).
