McALLEN, Texas - Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen co-hosted a forum with McAllen Economic Development Corporation titled Sustainability in Manufacturing & Future Workforce.

The event featured presentations by two top executives at Valeo: Jean-Luc di Paola-Galloni, global external affairs and chief sustainability officer, and Zobeida Gutierrez, the company’s CAP 50 director.

Valeo is a leading global automotive technology company, a Tier 1 supplier partnering with major automakers and mobility players worldwide, as well as a global aftermarket service. The French company aims to innovate to drive the transition toward safer and more sustainable mobility, and leverage deep engineering expertise to solve the industry's most complex challenges.

Valeo has a high-tech manufacturing plant in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, and is building another on Ware Road in south McAllen. The two executives spoke about the company’s plans for the McAllen plant, in addition to giving an overview of the company’s product line and culture.

The audience mostly comprised engineering students interested in working for the high-tech company. The Valeo executives were introduced by Will Wynn, executive director at the McAllen campus, and Ralph Garcia, COO of McAllen Economic Development Corporation. The event closed with remarks by Dr. Sandra Hansmann, assistant provost at the McAllen campus.
