SAN JUAN, Texas - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz, and the new US Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins have met with farmers in the Rio Grande Valley.

The private meeting was held at a farm south of San Juan, Texas, on March 19. The subject was the water crisis in the Valley and Mexico's failure to comply with a 1944 water sharing treaty.

After the meeting, the two elected officials and Rollins held a press conference to talk about the meeting. They all said they were confident President Trump would get Mexico to comply with its water sharing obligations.

Additionally, Rollins announced emergency relief funding for Valley farmers.
