EDINBURG, TEXAS - The largest two health systems in the Rio Grande Valley have announced details on the first births at their hospitals in 2024.
South Texas Health System’s medical staff say they are “overjoyed” to welcome the first baby of 2024 at one of their hospitals.
Weighing in at five pounds and seven ounces, Natanael Cabrera arrived at South Texas Health System Edinburg at 12:52 a.m., making him the first of four newborns who arrived at one of STHS facilities on the first day of 2024.
“Natanael was the first to arrive at STHS. He was also one of four babies born at one of our hospitals on New Year’s Day — two at STHS Edinburg and two at STHS McAllen,” an STHS press release states.
“Not only is he the first baby for STHS this year, Baby Natanael is also the first child for the Cabrera family, ensuring 2024 will be a special one for them.”
South Texas Health System was recently a 2023 Five-Star Recipient for C-Section Delivery, Hysterectomy and Gynecology Procedures. STHS’s leadership says this reflects the system’s commitment to consistently deliver high-quality women’s healthcare and placing the organization in the upper echelon of hospitals for OB/GYN care nationwide.
“The staff of The Maternity Center at STHS Edinburg and STHS McAllen and everyone at STHS is grateful to be part of a family journey of welcoming a new bundle of joy into the world and is dedicated to making the process as smooth as possible,” the STHS press release states.
