BROWNSVILLE, Texas - Demo Day for Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation’s 5th Annual StartUp Texas event takes place this Thursday evening at the eBridge Center for Business & Commercialization.

This time, BCIC’s partner is Texas A&M Engineering Experimentation Station.

Nathan A. Burkhart, BCIC’s director of business development, says the latest contest follows a similar pattern to previous StartUp Texas events, with the contestants currently in BCIC’s Accelerator Program.

“The StartUp Texas Accelerator is a highly competitive, intensive 8-to-12-week program designed by the BCIC to help companies effectively scale, properly evaluate market research, fine tune financial projections, all while creating valuable connections with local business leaders and fellow founders in the community,” Burkhart told the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service.

Burkhart said the program utilizes the AdvanceUp Accelerator Curriculum built by the UTRGV Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center.

“The selected founders have undertaken specialized workshops, mentorship sessions, pitch practices, and more since August of this year. This Demo Day event is the culmination of their hard work where each startup pitches their company to the community and a panel of judges for a chance to win up to $40,000. Free food, drinks and a chance for networking will be available during the event.”
