Cuellar, Falcon, meet to discuss federal funding for Rio Grande City

RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas - Following a recent storm that caused severe damage in his city, Rio Grande City Mayor Gilberto Falcon met with U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar.

They wanted to brainstorum ideas on how the federal government could help.

Cuellar said a lot of help could be provided if an official disaster declaration was made by the State of Texas.

The two elected officials also spoke about ways to secure non-disaster funding from the federal government.

For example, Congressman Cuellar could look for funding to help Rio Grande City establish a rodeo. Falcon said a number of ranch owners have expressed interest in such a venture.
