Cortez: Have a happy and memorable Holiday Season

Posted

The holidays are my favorite time of year; a time to appreciate family, friends, and our community.

It’s also a time of year to reflect on our many blessings and the accomplishments that we have achieved together, across our communities for the benefit of our residents.

One of my greatest blessings is the opportunity to serve as your County Judge, a role that includes working alongside our Hidalgo County Commissioners to improve the quality of life of our residents, enhance our county services, ensure that Hidalgo County continues to meet the demands of our rapid growth for future generations, and direct our Emergency Management services to help secure the safety and security of our communities - no matter the emergency.

While we have all gone through unprecedented times during this pandemic, I am proud to say that Hidalgo County has led the charge on many fronts as we collaborate with local, state, and federal partners to ensure that our residents and communities have the necessities to keep going. I am most proud of the work we have done during this time to help aid our communities and now, as we work towards returning to a new sense of normalcy, we are continuing our work to provide more services to our rural residents, improve our infrastructure, continue advocating for funding that will allow us to plan for the future, and ramping up our outreach and communication efforts so that all our residents are informed and prepared.

The Holiday season is a time of joy. However, I feel obligated to remind you that certain precautions are always essential to avoid marring this special time of year by being unprepared. So, I urge you to read through the special edition of County Judge’s Connection, and consider the tips that we offer you, discuss them with your family, and keep the guide throughout the holiday season. I promise, for the safety of your loved ones, that reviewing the guide is well worth your time.

And whatever your faith, whatever your traditions as this special time of year, I offer my sincerest hopes that you have a happy and memorable Holiday Season!

The newsletter was sent out by mail to all residents of Hidalgo County. If the newsletter is available in a digital format the Rio Grande Guardian will provide a copy to our readers.
