HARLINGEN, Texas - How many national security experts live in the Rio Grande Valley? How many were born and raised here?
Etienne Rosas, currently a candidate for the 34th Congressional District, is one.
The Brownsville native, a former lecturer at Princeton University, has a PhD in public policy.
The Rio Grande Guardian caught up with Rosas at a Meet the Candidate event hosted by North Cameron County Democrats. It was held at the La Sierra Event Center in Harlingen.
"The area of interest or expertise that I developed was the interaction between organized crime and terrorist organizations, or extremist organizations," Rosas said.
During the interview, Rosas also discussed his platform for the congressional election and what he is hearing from voters. He describes himself as a Democratic Socialist.
