MCALLEN, Texas - Congressional District 15 candidate Michelle Vallejo joined supporters for a block walk in a south McAllen neighborhood on Saturday.
Vallejo was joined by former state Senator Wendy Davis of Fort Worth.
Before heading out to meet voters on their doorsteps, Vallejo and Davis, both Democrats, addressed supporters in Idela Park. In her remarks, Davis bemoaned the fact that the state legislature had only one weekend for early voting.
“The state legislature, in the last legislative session, killed a full week off of early vote. They know that voting is our power,” Davis said.

In her remarks, Vallejo said the stakes in this election are so high with “bodily freedom and autonomy” on the line. She said some voters want to know that they can retire with dignity knowing Social Security and Medicare will be there for them.
