You might have heard we have a little bridge project down in Corpus Christi called the Harbor Bridge Project. I wanted to see it with my own eyes.
We have been moving forward. I want to thank our Executive Director Marc Williams for his efforts to personally get involved in getting this thing moving forward in a positive direction. And I believe we have reached that point.
My goal, as everyone's goal is… let's get it completed. We always start… whatever we start, we're going to finish it and this thing has been bogged down for too long.
And so I wanted to go down and see the state of the construction myself. You can see in the picture, I walked all over this thing and just so you know, the chairman of the commission is hands on when we're talking about important projects.

But, we're going to get it… we're going to get it going. We're working on a date that we can open this to the public with a lot of progress that has recently been made.
So I would just say stay tuned but we are going to get this completed and delivered not only for the people at Corpus Christi, but this is very important to the state of Texas.
By the way, it's the longest bridge of its type when we open it in the entire United States. So it's going to be an engineering marvel.
We'll get there. So just wanted to report give you a good progress report.
Editor's Note: The above commentary was given by Texas Transportation Commission (TTC) Chairman J. Bruce Bugg, Jr., at a recent TTC meeting in Austin. Bugg had visited construction of the much-anticipated new Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi and wanted to give a report to fellow commissioners and the general public.
