Outgoing BND Chairman Steve Guerra honored by fellow his commissioners

BROWNSVILLE, Texas - The Board of Commissioners of Brownsville Navigation District of Cameron County, Texas, honored outgoing Chairman Esteban “Steve” Guerra at their most recent meeting. 

Here is the proclamation: 

Whereas Esteban “Steve” Guerra is a dedicated public servant, community leader, whose vision and leadership have significantly contributed to the growth and success of the Brownsville Navigation District, Cameron County, and the surrounding region, and 

Whereas a business leader focused on economic development, international trade, Mr. Guerra has demonstrated strategic vision, progressive leadership, and steadfast commitment to excellence, greatly benefiting the Brownsville Navigation District and the constituents it serves, and 

Whereas Mr. Guerra was elected to Brownsville Navigation District Board of Commissioners in 2018 and throughout his tenure has made a lasting impact, including serving as chairman of the board from 2022 through 2026 where his tireless efforts have led to economic prosperity, creation of quality and well paying jobs for communities of the Rio Grande Valley, while expanding the district's business portfolio by attracting new industries and supporting the growth of existing businesses, and 

Whereas chairman of the Economic Development Committee, Mr. Guerra, provided leadership in shaping strategies that strengthen the district's competitive position, while also serving as a board member of the Border Trade Alliance, as a founding board member of RioPlex, helping to foster collaboration between the private sector and government and nonprofit organizations to drive industrial growth, enhance cross border trade, and accelerate regional investment, and 

Whereas under his chairmanship of the Board of Commissioners, Mr. Guerra established both the short term infrastructure committee, long term infrastructure committee, and initiatives essential to guiding the port's master planning efforts and ensuring sustainable strategic development for future generations, and 

Whereas in his eight years of dedicated public service, Mr. Guerra has consistently fought for the district's best interest at local, state, and federal levels, and has been instrumental in advancing key initiatives related to international trade, economic development, infrastructure development, regional collaboration, and quality of life, consistently working to strengthen the prosperity and global competitiveness of the Rio Grande Valley, and,

Now, therefore, be it Proclaimed that the Board of Navigation and Canal Commissioners of the Brownsville Navigation District of Cameron County, Texas, recognizes Esteban “Steve” Guerra for his outstanding and lasting contributions to advancement of our community, extend our heartfelt gratitude for his exemplary service, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Brownsville Navigation District,
