PHARR, Texas - When the second span at the Pharr International Bridge is completed the City of Pharr might expect to double the amount of truck movements at its port of entry.
However, that depends on the Pharr Bridge Board working closely with Pharr Economic Development Corporation to attract more business, says Pharr International Bridge Director Luis Bazan.
“We have to work even more closely than we have in the past,” Bazan told the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service.
Bazan gave interviews to reporters following the 2024 Pharr State of the City address, hosted by Pharr Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez and held at the Pharr Events Center.
In an interview with KRGV Channel 5 News and the Guardian, Bazan said a groundbreaking ceremony for the U.S. side of the second span would likely happen this summer. He said the span should be fully complete and open for trucks in 2025.
