BROWNSVILLE, Texas - UT Rio Grande Valley President Guy Bailey says his institution is striving to be one the best value schools in the country.
Bailey spoke about offering value for money following the publication of a study by WalletHub that placed Edinburg and Brownsville - home to UTRGV’s two main campuses - among the most “wallet-friendly college towns for 2023.
The study ranked Edinburg the most affordable college town in the U.S. to live in. Brownsville took the No. 3 spot.
“When you combine UTRGV’s affordable price of attendance and the bonus of being located in the country’s most affordable college towns, it is a win-win for our students and communities,” Bailey said.

“We strive to be one of the best value schools in the country, as we work toward an increasingly prosperous future for our main campuses in Brownsville and Edinburg.”
UTRGV opened in 2015 by taking over UT-Pan American in Edinburg and UT-Brownsville.

WalletHub said several factors were used to rank the cities, including housing costs; monthly fitness club fees; the average price of pizza, burgers, movies and bowling; and the cost of higher education.
