PHARR, Texas - Workforce Solutions is working with the Pharr Economic Development Corporation to secure more state funding to train students in the healthcare arena.

The higher education partner the two groups are working with is Pharr-based Rio Grande Valley College. Under the proposal, Pharr EDC will provide $150,000 and the Texas Workforce Commission will match it.

The title of the application is: “Bridging Skills Gaps through High-Quality Job Training and Education.”

Of the $300,000, 33 percent will be spent on student tuition assistance, 47 percent on equipment, eight percent on educational and training, and 11.3 percent on marketing and recruitment.
