SAN JUAN, Texas - Sonny Hinojosa is a retired irrigation district manager. He used to manage Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 2.
Hinojosa participated in a private meeting Rio Grande Valley farmers had with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz, and the new US Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins. The meeting was held at a farm south of San Juan, Texas, on March 19. The subject was the water crisis in the Valley and Mexico's failure to comply with a 1944 water sharing treaty.
