The last time I sent you an email like this, I spoke openly about the “special passion” we share in our community — the kind of drive that pushes us to go above and beyond.
As a marketer, I can happily tell you that email really hit the mark. It generated our highest response rate to date, and I appreciated every single reply. But what meant even more was seeing so many of you show up to support our entrepreneurs—along with the phenomenal food, drinks, and energy you shared with us!
Since then, I’ve been reflecting on what we’ve accomplished together over the past year and a half I’ve been with BCIC. One word keeps coming up in feedback: “great.” People say, “Hey, great event!” or “I heard some great pitches,” and it’s gotten me thinking about what truly defines greatness.
I realized there’s a difference between things that are big and things that are great.
Our initiatives often make a big splash — reaching wide audiences, packing rooms, and, when budget allows, having a big production behind our events. But what makes them truly great is their impact on our community, the opportunities they facilitate, the great conversations they spark, and the way they elevate local talent and energy to drive real change.

But Nelson, where are you going with all this?
My question to you is: Are you ready to be part of the next great thing we have planned?
It’s only with your support that these initiatives become great. After all, an idea only becomes great when it resonates with others – as that first email did!
This Friday, November 1, I’d love for you to experience this greatness in action at Demo Day for the Frontera Leadership Institute – not to mention that there will be tacos, aguas frescas, and pan de muerto!
