VideoRGV Focus helps develop a strategic plan for ARISE Adelante

Seeing the growth and evolution of ARISE’s staff has been fantastic, says RGV Focus director Rebeca Lopez.

SAN JUAN, Texas – RGV Focus recently helped ARISE Adelante develop a strategic plan to improve the group’s structure and leadership skills.

Rebeca Lopez, director of RGV Focus, said the collaboration has gone well.

“It’s been fantastic, seeing the growth and the evolution of the staff. Obviously they (ARISE) know the work they’re in, the work they do, day in and day out. They are really committed to the community. Their love and their passion for their communities is evident in the work,” Lopez said.

“We just wanted to give them tools and resources to really put structure to the work they do. To help them move forward in a way whereby they can measure those outcomes, measure that progress and then they can evaluate and tweak their initiatives.”

Lopez believes the strategic plan has been helpful.

“I think it’s been really helpful for them. I hope it’s been helpful for them, but it’s been helpful for us. Just as an outsider, participating in this work, to see what can happen when you invest, not just in the community itself, but in grassroots organizations to make this work, to move forward.”

In an exclusive video interview with the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service, Lopez spoke about the strategic plan and RGV Focus’ efforts to improve educational outcomes in the Rio Grande Valley.
