MCALLEN, Texas – A morning-long forum was held recently at South Texas College to discuss the efforts of the Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force to build a human capital pipeline.
The event, titled “Building a Thriving RGV,” was hosted by Futuro RGV, in collaboration with STC, the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, and Atlas, Hall & Rodriguez.
“Our goal is to move as many people as possible out of the welfare line and into the taxpayer line by creating job training and job placement opportunities,” said Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez. “This forum is an important step in educating the public about our ambitious plans.”
Cortez set up the Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force.
Here, below, is the story of the forum as told in pictures by esteemed photo-journalist Madison Girault.
