BROWNSVILLE, Texas – City of Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez has welcomed the decision of SocioMX Tour to bring a top women’s soccer game to his city.
The big match features Inter Women vs Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil. It takes place at the Brownsville Sports Park on Aug. 10 with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
“We are honored to host a world-class international soccer match of a sport so many of us love,” said Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez.
“To be selected to participate in a woman’s soccer tour demonstrates our commitment to the community of Brownsville to find new and exciting ways to further enhance our city. We look forward to hosting many more matches in partnership with Sports Media Management.”
Mendez predicted the match will bring excitement and a unique atmosphere to thousands of soccer fans in the Rio Grande Valley and millions more through SocioTV’s live broadcasts in the U.S, Mexico, and across Latin America.

Chivas Femenil are currently champions of LigaMX Femenil. The women’s team is part of Chivas de Guadalajara, one of the most historic club sides in North America.
“We are delighted to play for the first time in Brownsville, Texas, for our fans, SocioMX Tour game is important for us, it will also be very special because it’s an amazing rival FC Internazionale Milano, and sharing this great international experience for Chivas Femenil with all our red & white fans around The Valley will be awesome,” said Nelly Simon, Chivas Femenil’s sporting director.
Inter Women was formed in 2018. It is part of the world famous Internazionale Milano.

Tickets went on sale July 20 at www.socio.mx. They are also available at designated City of Brownsville locations such as the Brownsville Golf Center located at 1800 W. San Marcelo Blvd in Brownsville, Texas.
