HIDALGO, Texas – While COVID case numbers have dropped well below their peak in Texas, Hidalgo County is still seeing nearly 50 cases every day, with some involving serious illness.

To help reduce the toll COVID is still taking, the We Can Do This COVID-19 Public Education Campaign made a special stop at Hidalgo Borderfest 2023 with an educational booth and vaccine popup. Festival attendees learned about the updated COVID vaccines and were able to get them on-site for free.

“While many people are tired of hearing about COVID-19, it remains a threat in our community with more than 65 cases being reported each day,” said Dr. Carlos Medina, chief medical officer for Nuestra Clinica del Valle, Inc.

That’s why Nuestra Clinica del Valle partnered with the We Can Do This COVID-19 Public Education Campaign to provide free COVID vaccines to attendees at the BorderFest in Hidalgo, an annual three-day event celebrating the local border culture and the unique community spirit of the Rio Grande Valley. Vaccines help prevent severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID.”
