WESLACO, TEXAS – The Rio Grande Guardian has a guest Zoom conversation today.

Ron Whitlock of Ron Whitlock Reports had a “virtual” interview with Ken Jones and Blanca Davila of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council.

Jones is interim executive director. He was asked by the LRGVDC board of directors to come back to the Valley’s official Council of Government for a few months while a successor to Ron Garza is found. Garza departed in March to become city manager of Edinburg. Jones was executive director of LRGVDC for almost 25 years before retiring three years ago.

Davila is director of community and economic development.

The interview centered on the COG’s work during the current Coronavirus pandemic. Davila spoke about a survey the COG is currently undertaking to gauge the economic impact of COVID-19.

Additionally, Jones spoke about LRGVDC’s efforts to find a new executive director.
