EDINBURG, Texas – Former state Sen. Eddie Lucio was among hundreds of golfers who came out to support Vanguard Academy at one of its top scholarship fundraising events of the year.
The Vanguard Family Golf Classic was held at Los Lagos Golf Course in Edinburg.
Lucio is passionate about golf and also Vanguard, describing it as one of the best charter schools in Texas.
He said he is also supporting a pro-charter schools bill in the Texas Legislature.
“I am here supporting parental choice. I think it is very important we have them decide what school they want their children to go to and then for the state to help them. There is a bill right now, Senate Bill 8, that does that,” Lucio said, just before teeing off.
