FALFURRIAS, Texas – Anthropologists from the University of Indianapolis and Texas State University in San Marcos are exhuming for unidentified migrants who perished in the South Texas brush.
They plan to do DNA sampling to identify the bodies. Family members who want to give samples of their DNA have to be in the presence of law enforcement. This is often difficult because many of the migrants do not have family members in the United States.
However, the anthropologists hope to secure the support of consulate offices in Mexico and other Central American countries in order to identify the bodies of the migrants.
