RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas – On the eve of the general election, U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar is predicting South Texas will stay “Blue.”
In a video interview, the Laredo Democrat says the three big congressional races in the region have disfigured by a deluge of nasty, personal attacks.
“I have never seen anything like this. The national Republicans, Kevin McCarthy and all those folks… they have been spending millions of dollars on the 34th, on the 15th, and on the 28th itself,” Cuellar said.
“In the old days it was an argument of ideas. Now what they are doing is the most vicious, negative attacks, thinking that people are not smart here. Thinking that if you put a fake Hispanic accent on these ads they are running… they think everyone in South Texas speaks with a Hispanic accent. It is vicious, personal attacks on all three of us. But, at the end of the day, even with the millions of dollars, we are going to win this race.”
