REYNOSA, Matamoros – Raúl Setién, the new president of Index Reynosa, has outlined the group’s goals and objectives for 2023.

Among these are strengthening relationships at all levels of government in Mexico, increasing educational program agreements, and promoting social responsibility.

Index Reynosa is the trade association of the maquiladora industry.

In an exclusive interview with the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service, Setién pointed out that Reynosa is currently home to 158 maquiladoras, 134 of which are members of Index. Those maquiladoras currently employ 137,000 workers.

In the interview, Setién explained the impact of the supply chain disruptions caused by the Covid pandemic and how Mexico is benefiting from near-shoring.
