Deadlines! Deadlines! And more Deadlines!

Two weeks into the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, Vanguard Academy seniors have been busy completing admission applications, scholarship essays, and financial aid information.

To help them, on August 20, 2021 Vanguard Academy Mozart Early College High School and Rembrandt T-STEM Early College seniors were treated to a College Assembly.  Advisement on academic, college admission applications, scholarship and financial were among the topics presented to seniors.

“We are excited to start working with our seniors,” said Libia Quinterro, Rembrandt T-STEM ECHS College Advisor.  “The purpose of the assembly was to get them thinking of their future, and of course to guide them and provide them with added resources for all of the upcoming college deadlines they will encounter.”

Aside from college advisors presenting, former Vanguard Academy alumni also presented to seniors.

“It felt euphoric,” said Jabes Gallardo, a sophomore at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Jabes is a 2020 graduate of Rembrandt T-STEM ECHS.  “Seeing seniors embark on this new journey is great and even more so that they are getting a head start on their post-secondary.”

Rembrandt T-STEM ECHS senior, Alejandro Salazar, agrees the assembly set the tone for the fall semester.

“Prior to the assembly I did not feel fully prepared,” said Alejandro.  “After listening to our presenters and experiences, I feel I am better equipped to make wiser decisions regarding my college decision.”

To further promote college, career, and military readiness, this year Vanguard Academy added a college advisor to each of our three high schools.

“The College Advisors will provide tremendous support to our students and parents,” said Darcia Cuellar, School Climate Director.  “Our College Advisors will not only be providing that additional support, but removing any obstacles or barriers they may encounter when planning for their postsecondary career.”
