One of the top legislative agenda items for Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp was to secure more funds for his Healthy South Texas 2025 initiative. The Legislature has appropriated $10 million for the project. The aim is to reduce preventable diseases by 25 percent in South Texas by 2025. It is project being coordinated by Texas A&M Health Science Center and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
