STHS is hiring experienced staff to work at each of the six FEDs across Hidalgo County

With more than 800,000 people across 22 cities, having a strong network of 24-hour emergency care services throughout Hidalgo County is crucial. In addition to the emergency rooms at its four acute care hospitals, South Texas Health System has six freestanding emergency departments (FEDs) across the region dedicated to helping make emergency and critical care accessible and convenient for all.

Whether an individual suffers a major fall, is experiencing sudden or severe pain, an allergic reaction or any medical symptoms or conditions requiring immediate medical attention, South Texas Health System’s FEDs are at the ready, with nurses, physicians, lab technicians and more ready to handle all types of emergencies.

To accommodate the region’s growing population and the increased need for healthcare services, South Texas Health System is seeking experienced registered nurses, patient care technicians and more to work across its network of FEDs. Throughout the month of April, onsite hiring fairs will be hosted at each location, beginning with South Texas Health System ER Mission on Tuesday, April 12.

Those with a passion for working in an emergency room setting and interested in taking the next step in their career by joining the STHS family are encouraged to bring their resume to one of the upcoming onsite hiring fairs. Human Resources representatives and hiring managers will be conducting onsite interviews, providing information on the system’s competitive salaries and benefits packages, and making on-the-spot offers to qualified candidates.

“Most of our freestanding emergency rooms are located close to neighborhoods so people can access whatever emergency care they need,” STHS Chairman of Emergency Medicine Dr. Carlos Ramirez said. “This is a definite plus in improving health standards and improving the quality of life for people needing emergency services.

“Since emergencies have no concept of day or time, it’s nice for our community to know that they can get the care they need, when they need it. And, we’re hoping to bring in additional staff members to help us fulfill our mission to provide quality, compassionate care to our patients at our six FEDs. If you’re committed to great patient care, we’re looking for you!”
